DIY notebook

This little book is adorable and very easy to make. 1. Cut chip board and paper sheets to the same size (I used 8.5x11 paper). 2. Fold chip board and paper in half. 3. Use an awl and poke holes along the fold (spine) an inch apart. 4. Use book binding thread and needle to sew string through the holes. Pull taut and finish with a knot. 5. press firmly along folded spine to close book. 6. Use xacto knife and straight edge to trim excess paper from side opposite spine. ta-da!

I made a book like this and customized it for my portfolio leave behinds. following the same steps, I added side pockets inside the cover for my media cd, business card, and a pull out resume. fun!

Happy New Year

Who can easily say that they started the new year with their very own brand spankin' new designer calendar? Shannon Scott of DoubleTake Hair Gallery can. She commissioned me to design a 2011 calendar for her business and to mark her ten year anniversary in the hair industry. She stylized all of the models and the calendar photographs are the work of Jai Vee, fellow stylist. I designed the layout and oversaw production. With only a week before Christmas and two before the new year (and with the assistance of an amazing printer) we pulled this project together in record time. Shannon had her delivery of calendars by Christmas Eve!
